Duo boost or solo boost: what changes for you?

In a solo boost a specialist plays your account while you do something else. In a duo boost the specialist queues with you and you play every game yourself. The choice decides who plays, whether you hand over your login, how long the order takes and what you do while it runs.

Key facts

  • Solo: the specialist plays your account, so the order needs your login. Duo: you queue together on your own account and your login stays with you.
  • Solo is the quickest option. Duo can take longer, because the pace also depends on how much time you spend online.
  • Riot defines rank manipulation as someone other than the account's creator playing ranked games on it. No provider can promise that an account will not be penalised, in either mode.
  • All games are played by hand, with no scripts or bots. You see the total before you pay.

What each one is

In a solo boost you choose the server, the ranks and any extras, and a specialist takes your account and plays until the order is complete. You can follow the progress on your order page and, with stream mode, watch the games.

In a duo boost the specialist joins you in the lobby. You play every game on your own account, next to a stronger player, and your login stays with you. The Challenger duo service adds a Challenger-ranked partner and optional extras such as voice, coaching tips and high duo MMR.

The Untrackable options in a duo

A duo order can add the UnTrackable option, where your booster swaps accounts every two games, or Ultra-UnTrackable, where they swap both account and champion every game. They are meant to make the pairing harder to follow on third-party tracking sites. They do not change the publisher's rules: our Terms say duo carries the same kind of risk as other boosting services.

The risk, said plainly

Riot Games' support page on rating boosting and rank manipulation describes it as someone other than the account's creator playing ranked games on it, and lists penalties that include suspensions, the loss of that season's ranked rewards and, for repeat offences, a permanent ban. A solo boost matches that description.

In a duo boost you play every game on your own account. Our Terms of Service say duo and other boosting services carry the same kind of risk, and Riot decides how it applies its rules, which can change. CarrotBoost cannot speak for Riot. Our Terms of Service and Refund Policy explain what we do if a penalty arrives in either mode.

No provider can promise that an account will not be penalised, and any service that does is selling you something. Read Riot's page and our Terms of Service before you order.

How to choose

  • Choose duo if you want a result and want to keep your login and play the games yourself. Expect it to take longer if you cannot be online much.
  • Choose solo if you want the quickest result and will stay off the account while it runs. Read the risk section first.
  • Choose Challenger duo if you also want to hear how a top player decides: voice and coaching tips are optional extras.
  • If the goal is to improve rather than to reach a number, coaching may fit better. See the guide on boosting and coaching.

What to do while an order runs

  • Solo: stay off the account. Two logins at once can interrupt a game and make the account look odd. Offline mode stops friends from seeing you online while the specialist plays.
  • Duo: be online when you agree to queue. The pace of the order depends on your time.
  • Both: follow the progress on your order page, and use live chat for anything you want changed, such as the champions or roles the specialist should play.
