Boosting or coaching: which one fits you?
Boosting is a service that delivers a result, such as a rank, a number of wins or the placement games you have left. Coaching is time with a coach who helps you play better yourself. They solve different problems, work in different ways and carry different risks.
Key facts
- In a solo boost a specialist plays your account. In a duo boost you queue together and play every game yourself. In coaching you always play your own games on your own account.
- Boosting is ordered for a result. Coaching is ordered for time: per game for a live Co-Pilot session or a replay review, per hour for one-on-one coaching.
- Riot Games treats someone else playing on your account as rank manipulation and lists penalties for it. No boosting provider can promise that an account will not be penalised.
- You see the total before you pay for either. An order starts when a specialist or coach is assigned and accepts it.
What each one is
A boost is an order for a result. You choose a server, a current rank and a target rank, or a number of wins or games, and a specialist works towards it. In a solo boost the specialist plays on your account, so the order needs your login. In a duo boost the specialist queues with you and you play every game, so your login stays with you.
Coaching is an order for time with a coach. You pick one of three types: a live Co-Pilot session, where a coach guides you while you play; a replay review, where a coach goes through games you recorded and gives you an analysis with tips; or one-on-one coaching, a private session. You play your own account throughout and keep your login.

| How you order it | In the calculator: ranks, wins or games, server, extras | By type (Co-Pilot, replay review, one-on-one), the number of games or hours, your role and champions |
| What you keep afterwards | The result, until your own play moves it | What you learned, which you apply in every later game |
| Refund before the order starts | Full refund to the payment method you used | Full refund to the payment method you used |
| Refund while it is in progress | The part not delivered, as store credit on your balance | The part not delivered, as store credit; a booked hour you miss without 24 hours' notice counts as used |
The risk, said plainly
Riot Games' support page on rating boosting and rank manipulation describes it as someone other than the account's creator playing ranked games on it. It lists penalties that include suspensions, loss of that season's ranked rewards and, for repeat offences, a permanent ban. A solo boost is exactly that situation, and CarrotBoost does not control what Riot decides. Our Terms of Service and Refund Policy explain what we do if a penalty arrives.
In coaching you play your own games on your own account, so the rule about another person playing your account does not apply to the coaching itself. Riot's rules still apply to everything you do in the game, and we cannot speak for Riot.
No provider can promise that an account will not be penalised, and any service that does is selling you something. Read Riot's page and our Terms of Service before you order a boost.
How to choose
- Choose coaching if you want to understand what holds your rank back and keep the improvement. It works at the speed you practise, and no rank or time is promised.
- Choose a duo boost if you want a result and want to play the games yourself next to a stronger player. Your login stays with you.
- Choose a solo boost only if you want a result without playing, you accept the risk above, and you have read the Terms of Service.
- If you are unsure, start with one coaching game: a Co-Pilot session and a replay review are ordered per game.
Can you use both?
Yes. They are separate orders with their own price, progress page and refund rules, so you place them separately. Some players order coaching to find the habit that costs them games and a boost for a result they want faster. Neither order changes the rules of the other.
